Doreen Osborne
Staffing Coordinator
Doreen Osborne joined JFS at Home as staffing coordinator in July 2009. She oversees the scheduling of care providers and supervises them in the homes of clients that need help to maintain their independence. Previously, Doreen was director of client services for Home Instead Sr. Care of Boulder and Broomfield Counties. “I am excited to work for a non-profit agency such as Jewish Family Service that has a great reputation and a long history of community service,” says Doreen.
While she received a degree in court reporting, Doreen occupied much of her spare time with care giving for the elderly, and it was then that she realized the needs of so many. Although she taught machine shorthand at the Denver Academy of Court Reporting, care giving always tugged at her heart. Doreen also has a certification in business management from the University of Colorado, and she worked for Qwest Communications as a process specialist for many years.
Doreen’s first job at age16 was in a family-owned Jewish bakery. She got to fill delicious butter cookies with homemade jam and sliced many loaves of freshly baked, sweet smelling challah bread. “It was at that time that lox and bagels became a favorite morning meal!” Doreen says with a smile.
In her early years, before starting a family, Doreen traveled the world to learn about other cultures. She has visited places such as Hong Kong, Indonesia, Nepal, Afghanistan, Turkey, and many other interesting places.
Doreen has one son, James, a 17-year-old senior at Centaurus High School in Lafayette, who is planning to attend the University of Colorado at Boulder as an engineering student in 2010. Doreen also shares her home with her 20-year-old niece, Jessica, also a University of Colorado student studying art history.
